Take a look at a 2023 assignment, it was an upainted brass Overland Models NW-5, a rare model indeed. This project was commissioned in April 2023 and we had it done in time for Father’s day as a gift for his dad.
Another brass paint and decal was a simple Brill trolley. This one had the complication that the owner wanted the ugly motor and gear tower removed from the interior and replaced with a 3D printed interior. Take a look —>
Brass steam is my favorite. Every project is a challenge. The old saying that brass was meant to look at, not run; is so true in many cases. Add in 30-50 years of age and then things get interesting. This next project was a massive challenge: cracked gearbox, stripped main crank pin on one side, motor shaft tubing that was rock hard and split, missing journal box on tender. The owner wanted paint, decal, and marker lights installed. The marker lights were designed using 3D CAD technology and printed in house. The next 5 photos will tell the story.
